Therapy Assistant Sessions
At Lotus Therapy, our neuroaffirming Therapy Assistants provide practical, hands-on support for children and teenagers, honouring their strengths, sensory needs, and unique ways of learning. They work alongside young people on daily living skills, emotional regulation, handwriting, pre-academic foundations, language development, social skills, sensory processing, mindfulness, feeding, and cooking skills. Sessions are warm, flexible, and engaging—creating supportive spaces where children and teens can grow at their own pace and feel genuinely understood.
Therapy Assistants offer more frequent, consistent support to help reinforce the strategies recommended by your therapist. This might include practising regulation techniques, building routines, exploring safe and positive feeding experiences, preparing simple meals, or navigating social situations with greater confidence. By integrating therapy skills into everyday activities, they help young people transfer what they learn into real-life moments that matter.
Working under the supervision of our Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists, Therapy Assistants implement therapy plans, support daily activities, and help generalise skills across home, school, and community environments. Their responsibilities adapt to each young person’s needs and NDIS goals, ensuring that support remains safe, purposeful, and aligned with our neuroaffirming values. This team-based approach helps each child or teenager feel supported by a network that understands and celebrates who they are.
Therapy Assistant sessions are also a cost-effective way to increase therapy intensity and keep young people meaningfully engaged in their progress. More frequent check-ins help maintain momentum, while consistent guidance builds confidence, independence, and long-lasting skill development. By reinforcing therapeutic strategies with care and compassion, Therapy Assistants help children and teenagers make steady, sustainable progress—while feeling seen, valued, and empowered along the way.
